Iterum 2019 Clone 115 Orchard House Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir (Eola-Amity Hills AVA)
“The wine’s seemingly magical combination of electricity and saline compels you to take sip after sip. A wall of bright red cherry and gardenia aromas furthers the cause, while the wine’s slick mouthfeel escorts cherry phosphate and pork fat flavors. The tannins are Mel Torme velvety.”
Editors’ Choice. Price: $75

Today we took a glance into the future… pictured here are unfinished barrel samples of the 2022 Iterum lineup.
Joe took a sample of each wine and then forcefully put them through secondary fermentation. Doing this gives us an idea of what these young wines will look like in their future once finished; a fun experiment during the slower cellar season.

“What a fantastic debut from the Orchard House Estate project recently launched by Joe and Patricia Dobbes. Aged in barrel for 16 months, their Clone 114 Pinot Noir has aromas of black cherry, violet and bittersweet dark chocolate, with a hint of flint in the background. Ripe raspberry and Red Delicious apple flavors on a medium-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and elevated acidity. Enjoy best 2022–2032.”

A 2022 vintage reflection from Joe Dobbes…
“After 37 vintages I can say that they are all unique, however there are a handful of these vintage experiences which standout: particularly challenging, or magical.
The 2022 vintage falls into the category of magical.
After a record wet April with two days of sub-freezing temperatures our vineyards looked to be a month behind the previous vintage. After finishing the 2021 vintage on September 28th, this year we were looking at a finishing up in late October. 2022 had me reminiscing of a more typical Willamette Valley vintage timeline dating back to the early vintages in my winemaking career when we rarely started harvest prior to October.
Mother Nature then made a 180 degree turn and decided to shine warm on our vines. They rallied by producing very high-quality fruit with great flavors and devoid of any challenges. Our first fruit was harvested on October 7th and the last on October 20th. The wines now in barrel are deep in color, rich in texture and well-balanced and definitely something to look forward to.”

🥇Gold Medal News!
Our Orchard House Estate Clone 115 Pinot Noir has taken home a Gold Medal at the 11th annual Best of the Northwest Wine Awards by @sip_magazine
Winemaker’s Notes:
Bright and copious aromas of red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, and cherry intermingle with allspice, sweet pipe tobacco and red licorice. The flavors mirror the aromas with additional notes of earthy forest floor, and sweet, ripe fruit tannins. The flavors are intermingled and well-balanced with sweet spices and a hint of toast influence from the 35% new French oak barrel aging. Primary and malolactic fermentation was conducted by yeast and bacteria strains indigenous to the vineyard and therefore highlighting the vineyard’s terrior and microbiome. 15% whole grape clusters were added to the fermenter. Barrel aged for 16 months, bottled without fining or filtration.
